    October 10, 2020, 6:30 AM - 8:30 AM @ Swiss Valley Nature Preserve

    World-class birder Kelly McKay will lead you on a birding expedition through Swiss Valley Preserve. Kelly is known for bringing birds up close and teaching tips and tricks to identifying birds both visually and by their sounds! From a novelist birder to an expert all are welcome! Early morning and dusk are the very best time to view birds. Grab your coffee and join us! Funding for this workshop was provided by the Resource Enhancement and Protection-Conservation Education Program. This workshop will be conducted by Kelly McKay (BioEco Research and Monitoring Center), with assistance from Mark Roberts (Clinton County Conservation) and Brian Ritter (Nahant Marsh Education Center).   2. Proving Grounds Open House

    October 10, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Proving Grounds Recreation Area

    After two years of construction, the Proving Grounds Recreation area in Dubuque is nearly complete! The property was donated to the Dubuque County Conservation Board by John Deere Dubuque Works in 2018. The venue has been popular for family outings, mountain biking, hiking, and more! The celebration will be kicked off with remarks from the Dubuque County Conservation Executive Director, Tri-state Mountain Bike Rider President, and John Deere Executives. Your invited to learn about the history of the property from testing products manufactured by John Deere to creating a long lasting recreation area for the public to enjoy. Grab a refreshment and go on a self guided hike to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and discover what made this project happen.
